Post Porsche immobiliser
On my S4 it has a slotted opening for what I assume is a 'key' of some description for the Porsche Immobiliser. I do not have, nor need the the key so I am assuming that it has been removed/bypassed by a previous owner after developing a fault.

I want to turn my car back to original and was wondering how/what I would need to achieve to do it. I think I would need a new 'key', the immobiliser opening it is mated to and also the ECU for that specific key, is that correct?

I'm not familiar with that part, can you take a picture of it and post it?

I'll try and get a picture tomorrow and upload it. Maybe it was a UK fitted option. When the car was made in the late 1980's car crime was rife with cars regularly being 'joyriden' after hotwiring them. Maybe this was Porsche UK's attempt at stopping it!

Sorry about getting the picture up, I forgot all about it.
This is the immobiliser I was talking about, is there anything similar fitted to the US versions?

By the way, my dash doesn't always look that bad, I'm sorting a few electrical problems out as well!

Any info? I've tried a couple of the UK based Porsche forums and I'm just awaiting for some info.

My guess is that about the time this car was amde, the UK was suffering a crimewave of cartheft, 'Joyriding' where cars were being stolen purely to be thrashed aound before being dumped or stripped for parts and I'm guessing it may have been a Porsche attempt to address the problems being faced her in the UK at the time but, it's purely a guess!

I've also got nothing. Same responses as no one has ever seen one. And this was coming from someone in Europe. I'm thinking this is an aftermarket addition and not a Porsche part. It would make sense and I bet it only has a couple wires coming off the back, very easy to disable it.

Hi there, it's a Porsche part as the little square you can see below the opening reads, 'Porsche Imobiliser' and appears to be a very well made item as opposed to an after market piece of kit.

I'm awaiting a reply from Porsche UK so I'll let you know!

Can you pull it out? Maybe a nut on the backside, then maybe there's a part number or something on the back.
