Post New Radio
So i was working through my list the other day and i came across fix dash lights, in the process of trying to fix them properly (in the end i didn't i just bodged a wire from the headlights to the dimmer ;) ) i tore out my old stereo which didn't work and with it a whole heap of horribly done diy wireing by the PO (although knowing the quality of work of some auto elecs he could have payed to have it done) anyway today went into autobarn and came across this clarion head unit $700 down to $400! thought i've got to have that. sorry no pics of the installation, however it's reasonably strait forward.

it's pretty cool, however with this and the external amp (might be stock? i have no idea was in it when i bought it and still works so...) it's a massive battery drainer!!!

unfortunatly no, it's a cheaper model for a reason, i did look into the ones with gps however your looking at a much higher price range for the 1DIN models and the 928 obviously doesn't have room for a 2DIN unless you cut out the clock, which i didn't want to do!!! however i used to be a truckie so i'm used to reading a map :). it does on the other hand play DVDs, bluetooth handsfree calling (which i tested and apparently works fine from both ends even with my worn TT bearings) and ipod intergration so i'm pretty happy :burnout:

Very nice...

I have visions in my head of altering my center console and putting in a double din unit...I would need to relocate my hazards, and my factory clock...well, wouldn't even need the clock, as the new radio would have one, but i like it. Anyone know anyone who can recover or make a custom center console?

I was actually going to do that and make the Center Console accept a Carputer. I built one for my wifes BMW X5 and there is no way I could make any money with how much labor went into it. I put about $1300 into my wifes set up. More than likely a 928 would be comparable in cost. I may still do it but just for myself in the future since I already bought the material to do the Center Console. Someday I may get to this.

I would be very interested in that.

I was thinking a nice 2xdin nav/dvd unit, with ipod interface and satellite. A carputer would be the bomb...maybe a bit more ambitious than I was thinking...lol

Pics of my wifes Carputer. I've actually changed out the surround for the Touchscreen. I bought one that follows the existing dash and looks stock. I just don't have a pic of it.
