Post Timing Belt Failure
I have kept an eye on the timing belt on this car since I have owned it, however I lost the belt on my 84 928 yesterday. I was led to believe this is the last year for the non interference engine. There seems to be conflicting information on the web (What a suprise). I am wondering if there could be engine damage as a result of the timing belt breaking. The belts width was much narrower than it should have been so I am wondering if there is something else wrong that would eat the width of the timing belt. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Bret

I am having trouble finding the cam gear timing marks. Are the triangles on the cam gears the marks or should there be marks elsewhere.

Thanks much ,Bret

Disregard the triangles.

On the back edge of the gear in one of the teeth valley's is a small notch, that's the mark you're looking for. I'm sure there's probably a pic of that here on this site, if I can find it I'll post the link to it.
